- Quality Control of Pesticides:
- In order to ensure the supply of good quality of pesticides to the farmers, the pesticides samples are drawn by the Department of agriculture. These samples are drawn by notified Insecticide Inspectors, designated as Agriculture Development Officers, from premises of dealers existing within their jurisdiction. At present (May 2020), about 413 Insecticide Inspectors are posted in different parts of the State.
- These pesticides Samples are tested in State Pesticides Laboratories. The State Pesticides Testing Laboratories have been established at Bathinda, Amritsar and Ludhiana. The combined annual testing capacity of these laboratories has been increased from 3900 to 4500 samples in the year 2020-21. The pesticides samples drawn and misbranded during last 4 years are as under:-
