- Management of Pesticides and Pest Survey:-
- Pesticide is a broad term, which includes Insecticides, Weedicides /Herbicides, Fungicides, rodenticides, Bio-pesticides etc. The manufacturing, distribution, sale/stock, quality control and prosecution etc is regulated by Insecticide Act, 1968 and Insecticides Rules, 1971 which are enacted by Govt. of India.

- To promote judicious use of pesticide, farmers training camps are being organized. Farmers are also being educated through TV programs, advertisements in news papers etc.
- To monitor the pest, pest-surveillance teams have been constituted at district head quarters. Pest surveillance meetings are conducted regularly at State level as well as at district level on 30th of each month, in which pest-situation is reviewed along with allied departments.
- At State level pest-surveillance meeting under the chairmanship of Director Agriculture is also conducted on 4th day of every month, in which all CAOs, representatives of PAU, Department Horticulture and Central Integrated Pest Management Centre Jalandhar (CIPMC) participate for reviewing and appraisal of the situation. Accordingly, advisory is issued.
- Special Campaign for Basmati Rice:- To overcome the problem of higher value of pesticides residue than prescribed value of MRLs in Basmati Rice for export, a special campaign was launched during Kharif 2018, in which Five pesticides, creating problems during export of basmati, were identified and farmers were aware about not to use these pesticides on basmati. These pesticides were Acephate, Triazophos, Carbendazim, Tricyclazole and Thiomethoxam. The campaign was successful and farmers realized good prices of basmati. This campaign was further extended into Kharif 2019, during which nine pesticides viz Acephate, Triazophos, Thiamethoxam, Carbendazim, Tricyclazole, Buprofezin, Carbofuron, Propiconazole and Thiophenate Methyal were identified with the help of APEDA for dissuading farmers of their use.
